Not all those who wander are lost. – J.R.R. Tolkien

The Tolkien quote above pretty much sums up my general philosophy about life. I would live outdoors … if I could still be comfortable! I’m a, “What’s around the next bend?” type of person whether I’m walking, traveling, kayaking, cycling. Or writing. I truly feel that I have maintained my sense of wonder. I also believe in forming connections and relationships based on mutual respect.
My HR background required the clearest, most accurate messaging possible. That’s because there was usually a lot at stake if the information conveyed was wrong or not well received by various stakeholders. Building trust and delivering on promises has always been a critical objective in my work life and personal life.

How does all of that relate to your project?
I bring the same level of relationship-building and ownership of your project as I do for my own. An HR professional for many years, my reputation is still a critical component of who I am and what I do. I really can’t be happy if my client isn’t. It’s a bit like handing over care of your children or some prized possession to someone else so they can take care of them.
You have to know that they care as much as possible. No, in fact, you have to know that they own the responsibility. I liked the idea of shifting over from “just HR” to the role of business partner or any of its iterations. Because it really is about a partnership. You may not need further work after your project is complete–but my door is always open and I hope our partnership remains as strong as ever. That’s the essence of what I promise my clients.
